Please note that your group’s ssmu.ca email account will be the channel for all key announcements, newsletters, updates, access to resources, and other essential information.

As a ɫ Service, you have access to a variety of resources, from assistance in creating a website to finding resources for your events.

Service Email

All Services are granted a yourservice@ssmu.ca email address. This is the email address that the ɫ will keep on file for your Service and use to contact you for all communications. This includes but is not limited to, communications regarding:

  • general ɫ notices
  • funding applications
  • Activities Night tabler registration
  • workshops and audit information
  • Services Listserv
  • room booking reservations
  • bank account transactions
  • ɫ forms

Tip: Keeping all important information and documents in your Service email / G Suite space will ensure that all of your executives have access to the Service’s information with every year of executive turnover.

Once you receive a @ssmu.ca email address, please:

  • Transmit the account’s credentials to the necessary Service executives
  • Keep your credentials safe

It is your responsibility to check your ssmu.ca email address on a regular basis. Missed communications will have a detrimental impact on your group’s operations.

If you prefer your ɫ email to be redirected to another email address:

  1. Login to your ɫ Gmail account.
  2. Click the gear icon near the top right and choose “Settings”.
  3. Click the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” and choose “Add Forwarding Address”.
  4. Add the address you would like your email account to be forwarded to.
Services Listserv

The Vice-President Student Life (studentlife@ssmu.ca) sends important updates regarding events, administrative tasks, and announcements via the Services Listserv.

All ɫ Services receive the listserv via their @ssmu.ca email addresses. However, if you want to subscribe using an additional email address, please get in touch with the Communications Department at communications@ssmu.ca.

Note: Due to the high rate of Service executive turnover, our mailing list is recreated each academic year. If you would like to continue receiving the listserv at an additional email address (besides the @ssmu.ca email addresses), you will need to contact the Communications Department again.

ɫ Instagram takeover

ɫ Instagram takeovers are an excellent way for the ɫ to highlight the work of ɫ Student Groups and allow them to engage directly with the online community. ɫ Student Groups can submit their request via the , which indicates when they are available and what they would like to showcase in their takeover. All story takeovers must comply with the

University Centre Room Booking

One of the many benefits of being a ɫ Service is having access to room and table bookings in the University Centre for events, meetings, parties, rehearsals, and other initiatives.

As an ɫ Service, you will receive:

  • Subsidized Room Rentals: 8 hours per week
  • Subsidized Tabling: 5 hours per week

Service Webspace

Part of advertising and promoting your Service means building an online presence through active social media accounts and an accessible website. Services interested in creating a web presence can request assistance building a site, hosting their site on the ɫ server, and even having an ɫ subdomain if they wish (which will look something like servicename.ssmu.ca). For any of these requests, student groups are required to fill out the .

If your Service needs assistance with developing its website, please get in touch with the Club’s Website Designer at clubweb@ssmu.ca to schedule a meeting.

Please note that all Service websites must identify the Service as “a student group of the Students’ Society of McGill University.”

If mail needs to be delivered to your Service, please direct any letters or parcels to:

When Services receive a package in their mailbox, the ɫ front desk will accept it, and the Service will receive an email notice to pick it up. Only an executive member recognized in the Executive Contact Sheet can pick up a package on behalf of the Service.

Free Canva Pro Access

Canva is an online graphic design tool preloaded with templates. It helps users create simple and efficient designs without needing extensive graphic design experience or complicated Adobe programs.As an ɫ Student Group, you will benefit from the free PRO version of Canva. Each Service will be invited to the ɫ Canva team via your group’s @ssmu.ca address. Check your mailbox for the invitation.
