Alegria Contemporary Ballet Company

Alegria is McGill’s first and only contemporary ballet company, founded on the goal of incorporating ballet technique into innovative contemporary dance. In addition to performing showcases throughout the year, Alegria offers drop-in classes in various styles of dance once a month as well as tickets to Les Grands Ballets Canadiens performances at a 40% discount. Our aim is to bring ballet culture to campus!

Chinese Brush Arts Club

McGill Students’ Chinese Brush Arts Club (MSCBAC) is a student organization dedicated to promoting the art of Chinese calligraphy and painting. With a mission to preserve and share traditional Chinese culture, the society regularly organizes exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and training sessions, creating a platform that blends artistic appreciation with cultural exchange. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or a curious beginner, MSCBAC offers a welcoming space to explore the beauty of brush and ink while experiencing the unique intersection of Eastern and Western cultures.

Chromatones A Cappella

Chromatones A Cappella is a student-led performance group at McGill University, in Montreal, Quebec. Having formed in 2012, our repertoire has been constantly growing to reflect the unique styles of our members, ranging from R&B to indie rock. Our group consists of singers and beat boxers from all over the world with many different styles and a unifying passion for music. All of our music is self arranged and self taught, without any instrumental accompaniment. You can find us performing at events on the McGill campus, around Montreal, or at our concerts at the end of each semester.

Circle of Fashion McGill

Circle of Fashion is a student-led group dedicated to creating a space for McGill students to creatively express themselves through a shared interest in fashion. The club hosts in-person events such as runways, craft workshops, pop-up shops, and clothing swaps. We also have a blog and a magazine, Pamplemousse, that offers fashion lovers a way to connect with one another through different forms of media. At CoF, we strive to grow the fashion community at McGill and provide a fun space to do so.

Dance Pack is a dynamic Hip-Hop group dedicated to sharing the joy of dance through open classes and performances featuring original choreography. With members from all over the world and diverse dance backgrounds, we create a space that is constantly evolving, blending styles and influences to push creative boundaries. Our mission is to make dance accessible to everyone—whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just starting out. Through our welcoming and affordable open classes, we provide a space where dancers of all levels can explore new styles, connect with others, and grow their passion for movement.

Dsign Lab

Dsign Lab is an interdisciplinary creative club that hosts arts and crafts workshops and other creative events for the McGill community, bringing together McGill’s creators and artists. We aim to make creative outlets accessible for all students, helping to unlock the artistic potential that’s inside all of us! Effusion A Cappella

Founded in 1999, Effusion A Cappella began as a small and humble group of musical geniuses who laid a foundation of soul haunting repertoire and mind-numbing good looks for future generations to build upon. 26 years, 3 CDs, and countless roadtrips later, Effusion is still laughing, good-time-ing, and making sweet a cappella. Effusion performs at events, soirees, dinners, festivals, and student functions in and around Montreal, QC. We also take time our from our busy schedules to travel around Canada and the US to collaborate and perform with other a cappella groups, bands, and musicians of all sorts. Music without instruments is our passion and we draw our influences from across the musical spectrum. R&B, soul, gospel, pop, folk, rock, and jazz influences can all be heard in our repertoire. Besides singing, Effusion has been known for many a memorable skit at end-of-semester concerts and for questionable dance skills

Inertia Modern Dance Collective

Inertia Modern Dance Collective is founded on the assertion that contemporary dance is a constantly evolving art form. Participating in rehearsals and workshops, members of the company seek to contribute to the expansion of this medium through experimentation with movement and choreographic development. We believe that the creative process is just as important as the final product – our annual holiday and spring dance performances. Ideas, discussion, talented dancers and fundraising are what keep our collective strong!

K-RAVE

K-Rave is a club that aims to engage members in K-pop and Korean entertainment culture through events, performances, and more! Our club consists of two sides: the performance team and regular K-Rave events. Our performance team works on covers, performances, workshops, and a year-end showcase every March. We recruit new performers in the Fall semesters and we encourage you to audition! We also have non-performance events that consist of casual hangouts, picnics, game nights, and more. No performance skills required, they are meant for everyone to enjoy!

Les Muses Chorale

Les Muses Chorale, McGill’s only soprano/alto choir, was initially established in 2001 as Simply Sweetly. We are comprised of between 30 and 40 voices and boast a wide-ranging repertoire that speaks directly to our audience. Now entering our 25th season, we are delighted to dive into a new repertoire of pieces. In the two decades since its founding, Les Muses has provided a space for young singers to come together, express their love of music, and share it with the rest of the community.

McGill Arts Collective

We are McGill’s first multimedia arts club.? We are dedicated to forming a diverse community of artists of all skill levels and all disciplines—visual, written, and performance. The MAC, founded by undergrads Brune Bettler and Darren Li in Spring 2022, is committed to filling the artistic gap on campus and providing opportunities for students to explore new arts, meet new people, and connect with the Montreal arts scene. The McGill Choral Society has been around since 1924! We are a large choir comprised of both community and student members. We don’t have any auditions and welcome everyone to sing with us! We rehearse once a week and perform a Winter and Spring concert each year.

McGill Students Comedy Club

The McGill Students’ Comedy Club is the place for aspiring comedians, writers, and performers of all experience levels. We host weekly workshops where members brainstorm bits, workshop scripts, and hone their performance skills in a supportive, collaborative environment. Every month, we take our best material to the stage with live shows at Gert’s, McGill’s student bar. Whether you’ve already got your own Netflix special, or you just really like quoting John Mulaney, there’s a spot for you in the club. Come have a laugh with us!

McGill Students’ Classical Music Club (CMC)

As the name implies, the Classical Music Club (CMC) brings together people who share a love for classical music! Whether you’re a lifelong musician or someone who just enjoys listening casually, the CMC has something for everyone. Our main initiative is our end-of-term concerts where our members have the opportunity to perform in chamber groups in Montreal’s most beautiful churches. Our group also hosts socials for our members throughout the term and provides affordable tickets to McGill students and faculty for concerts and events hosted at spaces such as the OSM. Additionally, our club recently started a volunteer program to provide a musical outlet at hospitals, long-term care facilities, and retirement homes. McGill Swing Kids (MSK)

McGill Swing Kids (MSK) is a student-organized club that hopes to introduce students to a variety of swing dances, such as Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jazz, and more! Although the majority of our members are students, we welcome dancers of all ages and skill levels. Montreal Di Majesty

Celebrating the culture of Punjab on McGill Campus, Montreal Di Majesty is McGill’s first and only competitive Bhangra dance team! We hold workshops, performances at events within the Montreal community and attend North American competitions.

Mosaica is one of the oldest dance companies at McGill! We are an egalitarian dance company, and we welcome dancers with training in a variety of backgrounds. All company members have the opportunity to choreograph and perform in dances in our year-end showcase, as well as other performances throughout the school year!

Players’ Theatre is non-profit theatre company that aims to bring affordable and accessible performances to members of the community. We aim to serve both as a resource for any individuals (beginners are always welcome!) who wish to participate in a production, learn more about theatre, or support us as an executive member. The School of Music Montreal (SoMM)’s mission is to promote music education equality to underserved youth. Our programs benefit local youth by providing a safe and supporting environment as well as facilitating personal growth potential through musical avenues.

Soulstice a Cappella

Hello! We are Soulstice a Cappella, one of the four a cappella groups at McGill! We were founded in 2000, and we have been singing all sorts of tunes since then! Our music ranges from soul, to pop, rock, jazz and many others, and our very own members arrange new covers of our favorite songs every semester. We then perform these songs at an end-of-semester concert where we share all the hard work we put in! Once described as a musical fraternity, we have a tight-knit community that extends outside of the rehearsal space. Aside from our big concert, we like to perform as much as we can throughout the semester. We volunteer to perform at hospitals, nonprofits, and other events! You may also hear us on CBC radio every once in a while. The McGill Symphonic Band Club (SBC) is a student-run organization for members of the community that play a symphonic instrument. The band is non-audition and open to any skillset as long as general knowledge of the instrument has been acquired. The band meets one time a week during the semester and had a final performance at the end of each semester.

Tashan Dance Company is a Montreal-based, South Asian fusion dance group that operates as a competitive and professional dance company under the Students’ Society of McGill University (色界吧). The company fuses traditional South Asian styles with Western dance forms to create dynamic performances.

The McGill Savoy Society

The McGill Savoy Society is a student led musical theatre group focused on the comic operas of Gilbert and Sullivan. Each year we put on a mainstage production in February complete with full orchestra. Auditions for cast occur in early September (orchestra auditions october/november) and are open to all McGill students as well as the broader Montreal community. Savoy strives to be welcoming to all students, and our large ensembles make it a perfect opportunity for people of all skill levels to get involved with musical theatre.

The McGill Student Chapter of Fashion Revolution

The McGill Student Chapter of Fashion Revolution is a student-run organization dedicated to raising awareness about the current state of the fashion industry, particularly regarding sustainability, environmental challenges, and human rights issues. What makes our club unique is its combination of encouraging fashion as a form of creative expression while simultaneously highlighting the social and environmental consequences of mindless consumption. We strive to foster an inclusive learning environment where members can openly discuss potential solutions to the ethical and ecological issues facing the industry. To achieve this, we organize a wide range of events, including clothing swaps, mending workshops, film screenings, and coffee chats with professionals in the sustainable fashion industry.

Tonal Ecstasy A Cappella

Tonal Ecstasy A Cappella has been a fixture of the McGill and Montréal music scene since 1998. Founded at McGill University by a group of friends who loved to sing, TX has grown and evolved over twenty years, and now performs at their biannual concerts and various professional and personal events around Montréal. Composed of students in almost every faculty at McGill, Tonal Ecstasy’s members are incredibly talented individually, and their collective love of music shines through in their music. TX performs a variety of genres, including pop, rock, R&B, folk and jazz. All the music in TX’s setlist is arranged by the group’s members. Most importantly, TX is an incredible community for its members. Each rehearsal starts with a question of the day, which quickly ascends into lively chatter. When not singing, studying, or attempting both at once, you can probably find Tonal Ecstasy hanging out at Gerts Campus Bar after their Wednesday Rehearsals

United Groove (formerly Urban Groove)

Formed in 2003 at McGill University, United Groove (UG) brings together students who share a love and passion for dance. Today, UG consists of dancers from many different backgrounds, mastering styles from hip-hop to contemporary to street-jazz, all while fostering a strong sense of artistry, family, and dedication. UG has come to establish a reputation that goes beyond McGill and into the greater Montreal community, performing at athletic events, competitions, fundraisers, and parties.
