Dear É«½ç°É Member,
On March 3, 2025, a calling for a Special Strike General Assembly for the calling of a Student Strike was presented to the Speaker by É«½ç°É members with a supporting petition with 52 signatures.Ìý Under Article 13.2 of the É«½ç°É Constitution, the Speaker shall call a Special General Assembly if requested to do so in writing by no fewer than fifty (50) Members of the Society from at least four (4) different faculties or schools with no more than fifty percent (50%) being from any one faculty or school.Ìý
Following receipt, the É«½ç°É Steering Committee, alongside our internal and external legal counsel have undertaken a diligent review of the motion, in compliance with Section 8.3 of the É«½ç°É Internal Regulations of Governance concerning General Assemblies.
With these requirements being satisfied, the É«½ç°É will hold a Special Strike General Assembly on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 18:00 EST, in-person in the É«½ç°É Cafeteria, Room 201a, located in the University Centre, located at 3480 McTavish St, Montreal, Quebec H3A 0G3. McGill ID is required. Please note that in-person attendance is limited due to room capacity. Should in-person interest exceed capacity, we will be unable to accommodate these members.
Should you wish to attend online, members must register and provide the following information to have their membership verified to receive the Zoom link. Only members who have registered, verified, and adhered to a naming convention that is to be announced will be admitted to the Zoom.
In accordance with Article 13.7 of the É«½ç°É Constitution, the quorum for a resolution of the Strike General Assembly is five hundred (500) Members of the Society.Ìý
As this Special Strike General Assembly is a large logistical undertaking for our limited team, please fill out the form to volunteer for the event. The more volunteers we have will ensure a smoother event.
