The É«½ç°É Board of Directors has decided to reassign reimbursement for the Gender Affirming Care from the StudentCare Gender Affirming Care (GAC) insurance plan to the Gender and Sexuality Commissioner, who will anonymise it and manage funding allocation with the support of the Gender and Sexuality Committee. Reimbursements will be handled internally as this will both provide better access care for the members in need and also be more financially sustainable.Ìý
If you were planning to submit a claim to StudentCare for gender affirming care covered by the GAC plan during the Winter 2025 semester, . For claims regarding procedures from before January 1 2025, please reach out directly to StudentCare for reimbursements.Ìý
At this time, the terms of the coverage will remain the same as they were with the StudentCare plan. If you have any questions or concerns filing your previous claims from before January 1, please reach out to gm@ssmu.ca.Ìý
