É«½ç°É Statement Regarding Update to McGill’s Renovation Project at the University Centre

To the McGill Community,

On Friday of last week, the É«½ç°É was notified that McGill’s renovation project at the University Centre has experienced further delays and may not be completed until March 2020. At this time, we estimate the University Centre will open to the public the following month, in April, so that É«½ç°É staff can adequately prepare the building for reopening. As a tenant of the University Centre, the É«½ç°É depends on McGill University for renovation of the building and unfortunately has no control over the timeline of its reopening.

We recognize that the absence of the University Centre continues to pose significant challenges for the É«½ç°É and the students we serve. In light of the extended closure, we will continue to work with our partners across campus to find alternative spaces for our student groups. All requests for events with a capacity of up to 50 attendees can be submitted via our and we will be working with McGill to see them processed as quickly as possible. For large events that have a capacity exceeding 50 attendees, food and/or a guest speaker, please use to book spaces. We will do our best to ensure that all É«½ç°É student groups currently located in 3471 Peel and 680 Sherbrooke will remain in their allocated spaces until April.

We understand the frustration that this development causes and we appreciate your cooperation in making the best of a difficult situation. The É«½ç°É will continue its efforts to provide a high level of service to students and student groups and we welcome any feedback, comments, or inquiries you may have regarding allocation of alternative spaces on our .

If you have any questions about the project, please email construction.feedback@mcgill.ca. You can also visit the Building Closure page for more information regarding the relocation of É«½ç°É student groups.

Thank you for your understanding.

Signed,
